Never Give Up
In the world we live in, we are going to have all kinds of problems, frustrations, difficulties and obstacles.
So knowing we will face challenges, what do we do?
Do we choose not to challenge ourselves so we aren’t at risk of failing? Do we give up when we do fail? Do we allow circumstances to dictate our successes and failures?
For me, the answer is to remain steadfast. The answer is to persevere. The answer is to adopt the belief that life isn’t out to conspire against us, but instead trains us through these difficulites to make us stronger, just like a good coach trains through drills.
In other words, my answer is to never give up.
No matter what is going on in my life and what goal I am focused on, my victory comes from refusing to quit.
I try to keep that in mind in the heat of struggle. I try to remember that true inner strength doesn’t come from trying my best when times are happy, easy and obstacle-free.
True inner strengths and dedication comes from trying my best when I feel like I have failed, when I feel like giving up and when I feel like I have been defeated.
This means I must be diligent, relentless, unwavering and determined.
The only way to develop these skills and strengthen the ability to be determined in the face of failure… unfortunately is to fail.
So many times I can be sidetracked, just like any other person, by how slowly things seem to be progressing. The fact is that life really isn’t about the finish line. Life isn’t about who progresses first. It isn’t even about progress. Life is about what we learn during the journey.
Our greatest feelings of accomplishment come from doing our best during times of strife and difficulty, or after a defeat.
Focus your eyes straight ahead. Keep your gaze on what is in front of you. Don’t be sidetracked by past failures or previous defeats.
Life is going to be full of obstacles. Most you will have never even planned for.
So let me ask the question again: What do we do? My answer is to never give up. What’s yours?
