Sandbag

The sandbag has become one of my favorite tools to muscle up the power and intensity of my workouts. You can see it in almost all of my routines. I love it because it gives me an unpredictable, fluid shift of weight that keeps my body guessing and keeps new muscle fibers firing.

You can add or remove weight easily (I use 5 lbs and 10 lbs bags of rice instead of sand) and when you drop it you don’t have to worry about damaging your floor. When the weight inside the bag shifts you burn more calories and add more intensity by activating stabilizer muscles. It’s great for taking your Body Power Method workouts to the next level.

You can buy the same sandbags I use here. I recommend purchasing the SHELL only, then filling it with bags of rice like I do. You can also purchase the starter kit with filler bags, or the filler bags alone, and fill them with sand from Home Depot, Lowe’s, or any other similar store. 50 lbs of dry sand should cost around $3.

Check the price here too if you want to buy a sandbag starter kit. The starter kits can be more expensive, but sometimes there are sales so both sites are worth checking!

The “Power” model comes in pink or black and can be loaded from 5 lbs to approximately 45 lbs of sand. About 25 lbs of rice will fit if you are using rice instead of sand.

The “Strength” model is for those that want more sand shifting and more difficulty. You can load it from 25 lbs to approximately 85 lbs. It comes in black only.
